DNA Alignment Software | Formatting for Network

Network is a standard tool for building and analysing phylogenetic trees/networks.

Network is also used for DNA error detection within closely related sequences such as human mtDNA. Here, DNA errors can show up as implausible artefacts in the phylogenetic network, i.e. implausible branches or implausible reticulations (cycles/quadrilaterals in the network).

DNA Alignment is designed for error-free data-preparation for Network. This includes manual alignment functions, because Network is often used for highly variable sequences (e.g. virus) or phylogenies of a species with different species as outgroups (the outgroups allow ancestral nodes or branching points to be determined in the network, e.g. modern human mtDNA, modern chimpansee mtDNA, archaic Neanderthal mtDNA).
